ALDON Innovating Science EMB (Levine) Agar 500g, Makes 13 Liters of Medium

500 grams of EMB (Levine) agar, used to select for gram-negative bacteria and differentiate between lactose-fermenting and non-fermenting species. Agar comes dehydrated in a plastic open-mouth bottle for convenient storage. Each bottle makes 13 L of growth medium. Each bottle comes with an SDS, providing safe handling and storage information.

• SELECTIVE GROWTH MEDIUM || 500g bottle of powdered growth medium. Used to grow, maintain and study gram-negative bacteria in petri dishes or culture tube slants.
• DIFFERENTIATING GROWTH MEDIUM || Eosin-methylene blue agar can differentiate lactose-fermenting bacteria from non-fermenting bacteria.
• EASY TO PREPARE || Simply mix 36 g medium with 1 L deionized water and bring to a boil while stirring to ensure medium is completely dissolved. Pour into petri dishes or culture tubes, then allow medium to cool and harden.
• EXCELLENT FOR LABORATORIES AND CLASSROOMS || Ideal for use in general biology and microbiology laboratories and classrooms. This medium will only allow gram-negative bacteria to grow. Lactose fermenting bacteria will form colored colonies while non-lactose fermenting bacteria will grow colorless colonies. E.coli colonies will display a characteristic green sheen to aid in identification.
